Modern CFD-Ice
CERTIF-ICE applies advanced 3D Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations to in-flight icing certification work for aircraft programs. These capabilities support complex analysis, design decisions, and certification-focused planning across a wide range of icing certification needs.
Advanced 3D CFD Capabilities for Icing Certification:
• Aerodynamic analysis
• Water impingement analysis
• Ice accretion analysis
• 3D ice shapes
• Certification and STC support
Developer of FENSAP-ICE and FENSAP-ICE-TURBO
CERTIF-ICE is the developer of FENSAP-ICE and FENSAP-ICE-TURBO, now ANSYS products. These advanced and comprehensive icing simulation systems support aircraft, rotorcraft, propeller, rotor, and engine-related applications.
CFD Across Every Stage of the Process
CFD has become integrated into every stage of in-flight icing certification, supporting analysis, simulation, design decisions, and certification-focused planning.
Reduced Order Modeling for CFD
CERTIF-ICE integrates Reduced Order Modeling (ROM) for CFD in many aspects of in-flight icing certification. ROM enables rapid 3D calculations for flow, impingement, accretion, and performance, providing “complete” coverage of the appendices, complementing the spotty data of natural icing campaigns.
For certain applications, these 3D calculations can be completed in sometimes less than a minute, supporting faster and broader analysis than traditional approaches.
